Are You Ready to Count out Zuni? We Sure Aren't
If there is a saying that applies most to a team like Zuni, "if ain't broke, don't fix it" would absolutely be that motto. Even after missing out on the 2020 season uncertainty linger as to what we could expect from the Thunderbirds going up against at the time a very deep Cottonwood Classical team. They would win the 3A title with a dominant 32 points to beat Tohatchi and Cottonwood without skipping a beat. Now Alec Lastyano and company return primed to once again take on the best of the state. Zuni even has some high-profile wins against 5A's best to add to their resume this year. Now we will look to see if Cottonwood Classical can maintain podium contention against schools like Navajo Prep and St. Michaels. Lastyano will also be shooting for the individual crown as he goes up against Maximo Brito, Devin Lansing, and Jaden Perea as all possible contenders.
