Top NM Boys Runners to Watch at XC State Championships


The 2022 Western Sky Community Care State Cross Country Championships are set for Saturday, November 5 hosted by Albuquerque Academy. Champions from classes A/2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A will be crowned and you can capture all the action live on MileSplit with on-site live streaming for all the races, race day photo albums, post-race interviews, and live results. 3A Boys

Zuni's Alec Lastyano, Navajo Prep's Devin Lansing, and Cottonwood Classical's Maximo Brito appear to be the three best suited to crown a champion from class 3A. Lastyano has run fast this year against higher classifications while teammates Kiohn Duran and Andrew Romancito seek top ten finishes that will play a huge role into the team standings of what  could be a tight finish. 


Alec Lastyano

Zuni

5th overall finisher in 2021 state meet, ran season best of 16:22 at Organ Mountain Invite for 3rd place finish and top time among 3A boys.


Devin Lansing

Navajo Prep

4th place finisher in 2021, ran a personal best of 17:07 to win Bronco Ridge Runner to take 1st place.


Maximo Brito 

Cottonwood Classical

6th overall finisher from 2021, one of only three boys to go sub 17:00 in 3A this year. 


Jaden Perea

St. Michael's

Returns off a 12th place performance in 2021, finished 4th at this year's Academy Extravaganza. 


Kiohn Duran 

Zuni

Set a personal best of 17:09 at Rob Winter Classic placing 6th. 


Briley Dauphinais

Tohatchi

8th overall finisher at the 2021 state meet, won the 3A race at Academy Extravaganza. 


Shane Yara

Cottonwood Classical

40th overall finisher in 2021, Set a personal best of 17:13 this year, and finished 5th at Academy Extravaganza. 


Andrew Romancito

Zuni 

9th overall finisher in 2021, Won Grants Invitational in time of 16:14. 

Landen Sandoval

St. Michaels

Set personal best of 17:18 this year and 2nd place finish at Academy Extravaganza.

Jared Peterson

Tohatchi

19th overall in the 2021 state meet, set a personal best of 17:33 at Bronco Ridge Runner to place 5th.
