New Mexico Boys Cross Country Countdown: #14 Organ Mountain

The New Mexico Cross Country Countdown breaks down the top 25 New Mexico boys and girls teams returning this fall. These rankings will include projected top runners and weighing how each team may do in their respective districts and state competitions. Changes to class alignments and adaptions to the state championship format have been taken into consideration. These rankings are based on past two seasons of performances and do not include teams that did not compete last year due to a lack of athletes and team information. All top returning runners are only projections and may include athletes no longer on the team due to transfer or out-of-state relocation.

#14 Organ Mountain Knights

Brett Bybee returns as the leading man for the newly named Organ Mountain (formerly Onate) as a resume for all-state performances. Alongside Bybee are seniors Andrew Parks (37th) and Jonthan Torres (45th) as program regulars while they will get a mix of new blood with Corbin Coombs and Jeron Wisner likely in the mix. A good mix of promising youngsters and state championship experience will suit the Knights well as they will hope to claim a district title in their first step to state. Will they have what it takes to knock off a consistent challenge in Alamogordo is still uncertain but they do possess plenty of options as Organ Mountain got some meets in for non-varsity runners last spring. If Bybee can bring along Parks and Torres to the sub-17-minute club the Knights will certainly be a team to be taken seriously. With Albuquerque schools missing out on a cross country season Organ Mountain could seize the gap and finish the season ranked much higher.
