New Mexico Boys Cross Country Countdown: #22 Cimarron

The New Mexico Cross Country Countdown breaks down the top 25 New Mexico boys and girls teams returning this fall. These rankings will include projected top runners and weighing how each team may do in their respective districts and state competitions. Changes to class alignments and adaptions to state championship format have been taken into consideration. These rankings are based on past two seasons of performances and do not include teams that did not compete last year due to a lack of athletes and team information. All top returning runners are only projections and may include athletes no longer on the team due to transfer or out-of-state relocation.

#22 Cimarron Rams

Cimarron will look to stay on for another podium finish after claiming 3rd last spring led by Lee Kenneke who landed among the top ten. They will need to replace two key contributors to that 2020 season effort with Jonathan Gonzales(8th) and David Gonzales (44th) among the departures. They are among others within A/2A that will take a step back by losing crucial scoring runners as well. This race truly is a tossup for any of those top five finishing schools last season but also teams that sat out and didn't make the trip to state. Junior Joseph Gonzales is hoping to better his 33rd place finish while sophomore Joaquin Alcon will need to crack the 20-min barrier to see an improvement on his 37th place finish.
