The undisputed crown has belonged to Jemez Valley the last two years. But, the stakes get a little higher in 2014. Not only are the old-system 1A schools getting better, but the new 1A/2A classification pulls a few larger schools into the ranks with Jemez Valley.
Most conspicuous of those larger (albeit, not much larger) schools is Ramah. A virtual meet analysis (below) based on season-best 5K times from 2013 shows Ramah edging Jemez Valley at the finish line. And the state meet results corroborate that outcome. Ramah ran an average 22:18 to Jemez's 22:22 at state last month.
