Today we're featuring the Top 100 Freshman Athletes in the state of New Mexico. As was reflected in the boys list, not all events have a tally of one hundred freshman participants.
We'll start it off with Gianna Rahmer (El Dorado HS) who ranks first for New Mexico in the 800m and 3200m* for this season. The freshman also leads the state in the full mile effort but has yet to run a 1600m resulting in her removal from the list.
In the hurdles, Aaliyna Gallegos (Rio Rancho HS) has been showcasing a good season so far. Gallegos has a full second on the net fastest 9th grader in New Mexico in the 100m hurdles and is ranked 5th fastest freshman in the 300m hurdles.
We cannot go without mentioning Iyisa Brown (Sandia HS), who is taking the sprints by storm. Brown ranks 1st and 2nd in the 200m and 100m respectively for the class of 2028, and just opened up her season over the weekend.
