Hold on the win streak isn't over yet for Cottonwood Classical as they capture the fall 2021 NMAA State Cross Country 3A Title. Losing a couple of runners from this spring championship team hasn't affected them at all it would appear as Aubrey Lozoya and Sophia Lopez would guide them to more hardware. They would land 54 points to overcome a young Santa Fe Prep with 100 points and Santa Fe Indian's 122 points. We are already looking forward to how next year will turn out as both those 2nd and 3rd place teams are young across the board. Zuni placed 4th in their championship in two years while Bosque School appears to be another team on the rise in the coming years as they land 5th with 135 points one point shy of Zuni.

St.Michael's Raylee Hunt would not have a running partner for this 3A championship as she had Alyx Mastor in the spring meet but she ran to perfection regardless. Shooting out of the startline and putting some major distance between herself and the state runner-up Aubrey Lozoya with Hunt going 19:12 to Lozoya's 20:14. Sidney Harenberg would capture her highest finish at the state meet in her senior season as she would get 3rd off a 20:29 performance. We should mention along with freshman Nya Griego's 4th place finish her teammates' 8th grader Sophie Bair and freshman Helen Desmond are all some names to keep an eye out for in the coming years as they will surely be in title contention once again. Sophia Lopez will be leading Cottonwood Classical next season as she will return having 5th place performance under her belt. Bosque's Kate Henderson is yet another freshman among the top ten finishers and we Santa Fe Indian's Destiny Marquez and Destiny Chino are the dynamic duo they can look forward to returning in 2022.
