La Cueva Preview
The Bears are no strangers to success having won five state titles with four of those titles being in the same decade. This season they will need to fill the void with a couple fresh faces if they want a crack at a podium finish. Leading the way is the individual favorite, Stevie Salas that is arguably coming off the best track season of any other returning runner in the state. Salas took home the 5A 3200m crown with a 9:44 personal best along with a 3rd in the 1600m and 4th in the 800m all with personal bests. The 3rd place finisher at state a year ago will need to guide his teammates to lower times as a unit if the Bears would like to better their 11th place team finish from 2018. La Cueva is always a force in 5A and should return to form in 2019.
