Elijah Benavidez (Pecos) ran 11:02.19 in the 3200 meters at the NMAA 2A District 06 meet on May 1, improving from his previous best of 12:09.39 set in April 2026. The time ranks him 139th in the state among 468 athletes and placed him second of six competitors. Benavidez also set a personal record in the 1600 meters, running 5:24.40 to improve from 5:26.94.
Nekishia Garcia (Quemado) clocked 26.01 in the 200 meters at NMAA 1A District 02 on May 1, breaking from her previous mark of 28.51. The junior's time ranks 13th in the state among 1,379 athletes and fifth among 267 juniors, while setting a school record for Quemado High School. Garcia won the event with six competitors.
