Rio Rancho Rust Buster Recap: Track is Back in New Mexico

Field Events 

The field events were a tale of familiar faces picking up where they left off two years ago. Throws led the charge with Rio Rancho's Sterling Glenn formerly of Academy finding success in her throwing events claiming victory in the shot put (39-07), discus (117-01), and javelin (109-3) with complete dominance. The boys' throws would be Cleveland's Jason Gray and Tyler Jenson sharing the spotlight as Gray would claim discus (133-4) while Jenson would take javelin victory (171-09). Shot Put would be won by Max Berndt of Los Alamos with a throw of 46-08. 


In the jumps, Cleveland's Abigail Goodmacher would win the high jump with a mark of 4-09 as Donavyn Culkin of Rio Rancho would claim the boys high jump with a 5-08 mark. Long jump would be all Los Alamos on the girls side as Angelina Passalacqua won with a mark of 15-04 while Nyla Lee (15-03) and Tia Hartzol (14-10) rounded out the podium spots. The boys would see brothers Luke (21-10) and Evan Wysong (20-10) going 1-2 as Kane Demers finished 3rd with a jump of 20-09. Triple jump would be won by Los Alamos Kayli Lincoln with a jump of 33-05 while Max Chandler of Academy would claim the boys' side with a jump of 39-09. 


William McTeigue clearing 11-06 

Girls pole vault was yet another reason for Los Alamos team victory as they went 1-3 with Bailee Nasise leading the way with a vault of 8-05. The boys side was highlighted by William Mcteigue putting on a show reaching 11-06 to start his season and capturing a win.
