Kicking it off in the 800m, every boy who went sub 2:00 is gone from 2019 but returning as the next man up is 6th place finisher Jesse Sanchez from Albuquerque Academy. Bloomfield's Jacob Benedict is also capable of claiming a state title in the 800 if he does he'll likely have to face off against a plethora of Academy boys near that low two-minute range. Also, could we perhaps see Taos 400m star Abdul Khweis in the 800 after a pair of runs in his career earned him the top time coming into this year? It should come as no surprise that the 1600m/3200m favorite is Academy's Justin Hickey who is well ahead in terms of his personal bests from the rest of 4A.
