These rankings will include projected top runners and weighing how each team may do in their respective districts and state competitions. Changes to class alignments and adaptions to state championship format have been taken into consideration.
#17 Sandia Matadors
The Matadors are a team that tends to get hidden in the plethora of talent that is District 2-5A but they are a team worthy of this list. Sandia coming off a 9th place performance in 2019 returns six-state runners with the front girls being a sophomore duo in Reese Adams and Marissa Armijo. Both Adams and Armijo make up the list of the top girls in the class of 2023 and bring together the edge that may have them coming ahead of teams like Albuquerque high and Piedra Vista.
