
The New Mexico Cross Country Countdown breaks down the top boys and girls teams returning this fall. These rankings will include projected top runners and weighing how each team may do in their respective districts and state competitions. Changes to class alignments and adaptions to state championship format have been taken into consideration.
#12 Sandia Matadors
The Matadors come into this season with high potential but also plenty of uncertainty. they were a team that finished 7th while getting six runners to cross the finish line in 2019 with two of those being seniors. Michael Windor leads Sandia band of young returners and fresh faces to varsity level competition. The matadors have been on the rise in recent years and this could have been the best performance we might have seen from them since there early 2000's which saw them capture a 5A title with the start of the century.
