
The New Mexico Cross Country Countdown breaks down the top boys and girls teams returning this fall. These rankings will include projected top runners and weighing how each team may do in their respective districts and state competitions. Changes to class alignments and adaptions to state championship format have been taken into consideration.
Continuing a trend of schools that must overcome difficult district alignments are the Miyamura boys squad. They know the competition from Shiprock and Kirtland Central will be harsh every fall and yet they carry that chip on their shoulders when they toe the line. 2020 will see the first year of progression for a team that consisted of mostly sophomores en route to a 7th place finish among the 4A ranks. the lone all-state performer from the Patriots, Tayan Benson returns off the 8th place finish that saw him mix it up with the likes of Los Alamos and Academy's top 5 throughout.
