The New Mexico Cross Country Countdown breaks down the top 25 boys and girls teams returning this fall. These rankings will include projected top runners and weighing how each team may do in their respective districts and state competitions. Changes to class alignments and adaptions to state championship format have been taken into consideration.
The first team on our New Mexico girls cross country countdown comes at the heels of what could be an intriguing group to follow in the years to come. In 2019 the Scorpions did not make it out of the competitive 2-5A district that includes the likes of Eldorado, La Cueva, and Piedra Vista. Among the returning is Sophomore Kamalani Anitiely who nabbed the 10th place state finish. Among her teammates that were also able to run state meet as individuals were Kapiolani Anitielu and Adrianna Lake both only 8th graders at the time.
