Prestigious Zuni and Laguna Acoma aim for yet another state title
Zuni and Laguna Acoma are no strangers to hoisting trophies and its likely that they will secure the top two team spots in 2019. both squads havent looked this good in awhile and the classifications have seemed to align just right for a successful finish in Rio Rancho this weekend. Laguna Acoma's Sidney Cheromiah is one of the top runners in class 3A but the real battle will be won in runners 4-7. No single team holds a majority of low sticks and that lead to an unclear picture of how girls 3A will end up. Santa Fe Indian School, Cottonwood Classical and defending champions Robertson will be in the mix. Individually, Wingate's Jewels Leslie is the clear favorite with Tyra Tsosie, Alexandria Bewanika, Liana Fernandez, Maya Lue, Aubree Francis, Kendra Emery, Sophia Lopez, and Marissa Case rounding up potential top 10 finishes.

Zuni shows no signs of relinquishing their thrown in 3A
2018 State runner-up Deshawn Goodwin leads a Zuni bunch that is going for back-to-back state titles. Should the Zuni boys prove victorious it will "only" be their 18th state championship in school history and 5th of the decade. The Thunderbirds could potentially have five in the top ten. The closest competition will come from Santa Fe Indian School although it will take some runners to step up big time to match the strength of Zuni. Robertson, Laguna Acoma and Navajo Prep will contest for podium finishes. Individually, Goodwin looks tough to beat but looking to try to out do him will be Chris Humetewa, Christopher Humetewa, Jarek Chimoni-Zunie, Kameron Eustace, Isaiah Velasquez, Breydon Othole, Melvin Scott, Lance Miller, and Kyren McCray.
