ATC is the overwhelming favorite to top girls A/2A in 2019

Academy for Tech and the Classics who took home runner-up honors a year ago is looking secure their second state title in school history with a young squad. defending state champs Pecos will be just as competitive in their quest to repeat. both squads return strong runners in Defending individual champ Vanessa Dominquez of Pecos and runner-up Maggie Rittmeyer of ATC. I expected this to be an impressive battle between the two in the beginning of the season. With the course like Rio Rancho's anything can happen in championship setting. Penasco, Rehoboth and Capitan will be competing for the likely 3rd place spot. Individually, other than Dominquez, Maggie Rittmeyer may see the toughest competition from her younger sister Lily Rittmeyer. rounding out the potential top 10 finishers is Emily GarciaKalynn BowserJosette GuruleKamryn Hoehne Loryn Trujillo Ryeshiandall Jim, and Savanna Ortiz.

Navajo Pine aiming for their 8th State Championship in school history.

The defending champions return a strong group from a year ago including the individual champion Senior Galvin Curley who is arguably one of the better runners in the state regardless of classification. Hoping to stay within contention will be Cloudcroft who have Max Preslar who has the top time this year and along with Curley are the only sub 16:00 runners in the classification. Cimarron, Pecos and Newcomb will contest for a podium finish. Individually, Curley and Preslar will edge for 1st place honors while Dominique ClicheeMichael Marshall , Ryan KeeDylan JonesDevin Gonzales ,Herschel SamLee Kenneke, and Tristan Pierce all have good chance at top 10 finishes.
