1. Jordan Byrd, Manzano High, junior
Outdoor: 100m, 200m, 4x100m
Byrd's having a solid indoor season. He's currently ranked US #31 in the 60m run. But his outdoor season should go even better. After 100m appearances in the Brooks PR Invitational (8th in 10.93 seconds) and the Great Southwest Classic (5th in 10.56) in 2016, Byrd appears to be even stronger. Byrd, a two-time state champion in the event, owns an outdoor PR of 10.32, which finished the 2016 season US #16. In the 200, Byrd finished second last year with a time of 21.68, though he has another state title from the previous season and owns a PR of 21.57. In a sandwich year between freshman and senior bookends, Byrd has an opportunity to continue his legacy with sterling performances.
