Top 10 Athletes to Watch This Outdoor Track Season

2. Jackson Morris, Albuquerque Academy, senior

Outdoor: Javelin, discus, shot put

Morris has tried about every field event in his three seasons with Albuquerque Academy. But the senior, a six-time state individual champion, has developed a niche in the throwing events, especially in the javelin, where his PR of 200-9 in March of 2016 finished US #19. While he didn't hit that mark again to finish the spring season, he did win his second straight state title and was first at the USATF Region 10 Junior Olympic Championship with a second-best toss of 196-6. He followed with a seventh-place performance a few weeks later at USATF's national championship meet in July. A season ago, he also won a state title in the shot put (51-3.75), also his second consecutive feat, and in the discus, also his second consecutive honor. You see the theme? Morris is a thrower of things.
