Eunice, this year's fourth-place team appears to have survived graduation exercises better than each of other teams competing for this year's state title.
A lot can change between now and next spring, but Eunice has enough firepower that they should have everyone's attention in 2A. Hurdler/jumper Greg Mitchell is a lot of the reason for that, but Eunice also figures to get big contributions from throwers Alex Zamora, Armando Rodriguez, and Roman Acosta, plus jumper Adolfo Rodriguez. This has the look of a very good team heading into next year.
Don't count on Santa Rosa, Laguna-Acoma, Texico, or Clayton playing dead, however. Each of these teams has plenty of reason to be hopeful and working hard over the intervening months. Adrian Gomez of Texico (arguably 2A's best returning hurdler) and Augustus Cuch of Laguna-Acoma (arguably 2A's best returning distance runner), in particular, have the potential to turn a big portion of the meet in the favor of their schools.
