#11 Cottonwood Classical Prep

A resurgence of Zuni and Tohatchi in 2021 was enough to send the defending champs at the time holding on for a 3rd place team finish in the 3A state championship race. Now the #11 ranked Cottonwood Classical will seek to rebound as they once again seek their second state title in program history. Maximo Brito leads the charge coming off a 6th overall finish and boasting a personal best of 16:45. Alongside Brito, returns Alex Bergevin (26th in 2021), Shane Yara (40th in 2021), Carter Swanson (52nd in 2021), and Micah Bush (39th in 2021).  They remain just as competitive as years past but the addition of Freshmen Andrew Sweetman (17:44 personal best) and Christopher Nevarez to the varsity seven may be the missing pieces to once again claim class 3A. While the rest of the classification remains somewhat a mystery, district 5-3A should be Cottonwood's for the taking as they make a comeback to challenge for a blue trophy this fall.
