THE ROSWELL GAMES

BEGINNING LEVEL YOUTH TRACK & FIELD PROGRAM
Provided for the community in cooperation with the Roswell Independent School District and
the Roswell Recreation Department

WHAT: Beginning Level Track and Field Program for boys and girls ages 7-14

MISSION STATEMENT: The Roswell Games will help to acquaint boys and girls
between the ages of 7-14 with track and field activities in a positive atmosphere that
promotes and encourages successful participation and friendly competition between
schools.

WHEN: Program will be conducted in the fall with the local public and private schools. The
Roswell Games will be held October 25, 2022 at the Wool Bowl beginning at 9:00AM.

HOW:   Each elementary, middle and private school in Roswell will conduct their own
qualifying meet.  Schools will enter their Winners into The Roswell Games using this MileSplit Registration Page.

AGE GROUPS: Age groups will be determined by the year born.
For 2023 Age Groups are: #1 (born 2015-16),
#2 (born 2013-14),
#3  (born 2011-12), and
#4 (born 2009-10 and all 6th grade students)

EVENTS: Both boys and girls may compete in 2 individual events, plus one relay, but may only participate in 1 field event. The events include 50 yd shuttle relay, 4x100m relay, 50 yd dash, 100yd dash, 200m dash, 400m run, 800m run, softball throw and long jump.

COST & AWARDS: Each school/agency will provide for their own awards and
expenses for their own level of competition. The Roswell Recreation Department will
provide for the expense of awards given at The Roswell Games. Medals for the 1st, 2nd
and 3rd place finishers in each event will be given at The Roswell Games.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:  Participation Rules and Regulations For
The Roswell Games are intended to be a beginning
level track and field program. As such the following rules will apply:
1. Individuals must compete in the proper age group
2. Age groups are determined based on the year born.
3. All participants must have their age checked by the school/agency that advances
them to The Roswell Games no later than when the team roster is submitted to the
Recreation Department. Failure of an individual to compete in the proper age group
will disqualify that individual from the event, any awards will need to be returned,
and may result in the disqualification from future Roswell Games.
4. Participants may only enter two (2) events, plus the relay.
5. Participants who participate in a NMAA member Middle/Jr. High track Meet or in a USATF or similar age
group competition of a regional or invitational nature are not considered to be a
beginning level participant in track and field and are not eligible to participate in
The Roswell Games. 6.  Shoes must be worn by all individuals when competing in events.
7. Shoes with spikes or cleats and the use of starting blocks are not allowed.
