Track Prospects 2013: 3A Boys

Last year, Silver High School led the 3A team chase wire-to-wire, coming home with the state title in May. They look like early favorites for this year as well.

There is much yet to be established about 3A boys track and field for 2013, but Silver's deep pool of talent, led by hurdler/triple jumper Andrew Little and sprinter/thrower Dakota Bencomo, isn't one of those thingsUnless Silver goes complacent between now and May, the field has a fair bit of catching up to do:

2012 NM HS M Outdoor Track Team Scores (Returners Only)

Calculated as of December 30, 2012

These rankings were calculated by scoring the rankings as a meet. We took the individual rankings only and scored them as a normal meet: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 (Note: this is, of course, not conventional New Mexico meet scoring, but it is how the utility the produces the virtual meet scoring scores the "meet." One advantage of doing things this way is to give a slightly better view of the depth in events that only scoring six deep would provide for.).

Athletes whose graduation years are unknown were left out of the list.

Judging by the results of the cross country season just completed, one thing you can probably count on is a better track season for Jereme Santistevan than he posted last spring. There will doubtless be other such leaps made as well, but we'll have to wait for the season to develop to see what those will be.
