Note: Athletes who have been nominated in the past two weeks are not eligible. Previous winners are excluded for the rest of the season.
This Week's Nominees:
Jhett Kinghorn, La Cueva High School (New Mexico): Won the 100m in 10.56 and placed second in the 200m at 21.72 at the NMAA 5A District 02 meet. His 100m time topped a field of 33 runners.
Chigekwu Nwagbo, Sandia High School (New Mexico): Clocked 21.24 to win the 200m at NMAA 5A District 02, beating La Cueva's Jhett Kinghorn by nearly half a second. Also ran 51.77 for third place in the 400m.
Jayden Leyva, Artesia High School (New Mexico): The top junior in New Mexico threw 192-6 to win the javelin at NMAA 4A District 04.
Moses Sparks, Sue Cleveland High School (New Mexico): Put up 53-10.5 to win the shot put at NMAA 5A District 01, topping a field of 22 throwers. Also competed in the discus, throwing 150-1 for fourth place.
Marcos Perea-Ochoa, West Mesa High School (New Mexico): Jumped 22-8.5 to win the long jump at NMAA 5A District 05. Also ran 22.44 for second place in the 200m.
