Daxton Coombs: Absolutely crushing those mid-distance and distance races. Coombs is paving his way to the top of New Mexico's lists for both his class and high school as a whole. He boasts P.Rs of 1:56.80, 4:19.53, and 9:46.68 in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m, respectively. The sophomore from Organ Mountain HS is currently undefeated in the 3200m run this season.
Samaya Fashola: Leading the class of 2028 in both the 100m and 200m dashes. The sophomore from Sue Cleveland HS is the only one in her class to have dipped under the 12-second barrier as well as the 26-second mark in the short sprints. She's out front by a margin in the class of 2028, but could be a top contender at the state meet once the classes merge.
Jayden Burns: Ranked Top 10 in three of four events competed in this season. Burns has the class lead in the 400m dash and follows it closely with a #3 seed in the 200m dash. She's the only 10th grader to date this season to have gone under the 60-second mark for the quarter mile distance. From Los Alamos HS, she also holds competitive marks in the 100m and long jump.
Raymundo Lujan: Might be New Mexico's most talented athlete regardless of class. Lujan has competed in six events this season; four of them list the sophomore's name as the current class leader. He's Eldorado HS' top performer and is undefeated in both the 300m hurdles and the triple jump. Lujan will be an individual to watch come the state meet.
Amari Clark: A sprint specialist from Eldorado HS. Clark holds the Top 3 class rankings in both the 100m and 200m dashes. He has also competed in the long jump and currently leads the class of 2028 in the 100m dash. He is the only sophomore so far to have broken the 11-second barrier this season.
Mariah Galbraith: Among New Mexico's best regardless of class. Galbraith leads the class of 2028 in both the 1600m and 3200m runs. She's got nearly a minute lead on the next best time from the class of 2028 in the 2-mile, and is also highly listed in the 800m run. She represents the Rio Rancho HS program and is looking to make a second appearance at the state championships.
Ryli Heckman: A sophomore from Bloomfield HS, Heckman is a hurdle specialist who has put her name at the top of the charts this season. She leads both hurdling events for the class of 2028 and is also ranked among the Top 25 in the long jump. She currently sits in the #13 spot for her grade.
