NM MileSplit Spotlight: Tanner Montano

La Cueva's Tanner Montano, a versatile track star specializing in sprinting and jumping. Montano, who just verbally committed to the Texas Longhorns, is a rare talent who has had a ton of success, both, on the gridiron and on the track.

This year, Montano decided not to play football, and to focus solely on track. As a freshman, Montano won the Gatorade Player of the Year for boys track & field. This past year, Montano scored more points than any other male individual in the state championship meet (22 points). He also tied the long jump state record of 24 feet 3 1/4 inches, a record that had previously stood alone for 55 years.

New Mexico, you'll have all of this upcoming Spring, to watch Tanner in action...it's something you don't want to miss!
