Koen Christiansen (Los Alamos HS)
He's just a sophomore, but Koen Christiansen has already made an impact on the New Mexico rankings.
At the Joe I. Vigil Open HS & MS Invite, the sophomore from Los Alamos clocked a 16:26.95 on the 5K course, good enough for 19th place. This marked his second race of the 2025 season and an improvement on his previous personal best. His performance was good enough to land him a spot amongst the Top 30 runners in New Mexico for the 5K this season. He also managed to work his way into the Top 5 underclassman in the state for the distance mentioned.
Even though this is Christiansen's second high school season, he does have experience in the world of competitive high school running. In his 2024 cross country season, Koen Christiansen partook in the NXR Southwest regional meet, running a 16:57.91 for the 5K in his respective race. As a freshman, he also clocked a sub 4:50 in the 1600m during the spring season for outdoors.
Keep an eye out for Koen Christiansen as he undergoes his sophomore high school season.
