The first full weekend of the 2025 track and field season produced some amazing performances in and out of state. Starting this week, we'll conduct a poll highlighting some of New Mexico's best performances.
CANDIDATES
Laila Martinez (Grants HS)- A big way to start the season for the junior. Martinez went for the distance triple (800m, 1600m, & 3200m) at the 14th Annual Mike Pecos Invitational on Saturday and managed a first place finish in both the 800m and 1600m. She set a new state lead in both events and moved into the #3 spot for the 3200m.
Atria Wells (Carlsbad HS)- Tripled at the Centennial Hawks Invitational and had a strong showing after not competing since late February. Took first in Shot Put and set a new state lead. Also finished 6th and 4th in Javelin and Discus respectively.
Colette Bibeault (Los Alamos HS)- Bibeault doubled in Pole Vault and the 100m Hurd. at the Rio Rancho Rust Buster. Placed first in both event competed in during the meet. The senior already had the state lead in both hurdle events but she collected a third lead with her performance on Saturday.
