The first full weekend of the 2025 track and field season produced some amazing performances in and out of state. Starting this week, we'll conduct a poll highlighting some of New Mexico's best performances.
CANDIDATES
Valin Wittenburg (Santa Fe HS)- The senior took over the state lead in the 400m at the Tiger Invitational. Wittenburg cracked 50-seconds in the event and ran a 00:48.87 to put nearly five seconds between him and the runner-up in the race.
Sullivan Cody (Rio Rancho HS)- At the Albuquerque Academy Quad, Cody took the state lead from a 10:07.56 down to a 9:28.35 in a field that saw six runners go under the previous state lead. The senior led four of these athletes under the 10-minute mark for the 3200m.
Bryce Melton (Santa Fe HS)- Ripped a 00:10.69 in the 100m dash at the Tiger Invitational to collect both a P.R and state lead. Also ran the 4x100m at the invite where he anchored his team to a first place finish and state lead as well.
