The first full weekend of the 2025 track and field season produced some amazing performances in and out of state. Starting this week, we'll conduct a poll highlighting some of New Mexico's best performances.
CANDIDATES
Sophia Cox (Belen HS)- Said hello to outdoors in dominant fashion. Took 1st in the 100m and 400m at the Tiger Invitational. Cox opened up her year in the100m dropping a whole second off down to an 00:11.36, a time which was good to take over the NM state lead. She also clocked a sub-60 second run on the 400m at the invite for another state lead.
Carmen Dorseyspitz (Moriarty HS)- The sophomore opened up her year with a 10:51.33 in the 3200m. She won the event at the Tiger Invitational and took over the state lead by a fair margin. Dorseyspitz is the first girl from New Mexico to crack 11-minutes in the 3200m this season
Colette Bibeault (Los Alamos HS)- The senior made a big statement to open her last season in high school track. Bibeault took down the field in both 100m Hurd. and 300m Hurd. running two state leads in the process. She also competed in the Pole Vault where she secured a third state lead.
