In this week's edition of New Mexico Future Stars, we'll be looking at recent standout sophomore performances.
New Mexico, if you haven't already, meet Billy Romero of Taos High School!
Earlier this month, Romero placed third at the 31st Joe I. Vigil XC Invitational in a PR of 15:44.73 - well over a minute faster than his finish from last year.
The Taos sophomore is not only leading his class, but currently sits No. 5 across all-classifications.
Romero isn't a stranger to New Mexico cross country, though. Last fall, he placed runner-up at the 4A NMAA XC State Championship as just a freshman in 16:06.46.
He'll be one to look our for this fall!
