New Mexico saw lots of exciting performances to keep the outdoor season rolling early on this past weekend!
Amongst many, here are a few of the standout performances...
At the Robertson Red Invitational, Kiana Jameson of Sue Cleveland high school came in hot in the girls 400. She won the event by over two seconds over the rest of the field in a time of 59.11 - a new PR and No. 2 in New Mexico.
Stratton Shufelt, also from Sue Cleveland high, remains undefeated this season in both the discus and shot put. He threw season bests in both events with state-leading marks of 151-3 in the discus and 54-4 in the shot put.
In the boys 800, Dallas Reed of Volcano Vista high school crossed the line in 1:58.22, a new state-leading time.
Kaselle Davis of Las Cruces high school dominated in the girls 100 and 400 at the Rolla Buck/White Sands Invitational, winning both events while running a new 400 PR of 59.37. After only a few weeks of outdoor, the junior has already earned herself nine individual wins across the board. She is No. 2 in the 100 (12.29) and No. 3 in the 400 in the state.
At the same meet, senior Christian Ortiz of Centennial high school clocked a new PR of 49.83 in the boys 400 to take home the title, moving him to No. 3 in New Mexico.
Haisley Huffman took over the jumps at the Rattler Relays. The Tucumcari high senior jumped 17-5.5 in the girl's long jump, while jumping 34-7 in triple jump - both PRs. She is leading the state in long jump while also sitting No. 3 in triple jump.
