New Mexico Cross Country Countdown Series
#5 ABQ Academy Chargers
ABQ Academy is back in a similar position as years past as they once again remain a force in 4A with one obstacle to overcome, Los Alamos. The Chargers bring back Katie Patton (6th in 2021) and Addison Julian (8th in 2021) as two All-State performers and the focal point for a team that will find itself with plenty of newcomers to the varsity. They do also return Anna Hastings (18th in 2021), and Addie Siembieda (31st in 2021) as a solid four to build around. While many schools will be looking to develop their future stars Academy has always been able to plug in last season's junior varsity runner and immediately return to state title contention. This season will be a test of depth as they along with the Hilltoppers and schools like Pojoaque inch closer to one another on the score sheet. Patton will be a potential individual state contender to look out for as she would be taking on Los Alamos Delaney Ulrich and Emma Montoya Exciting matchups are in store for Academy this season as they host Academy Extravaganza prior to the state championships as they chase more hardware for the trophy case in November.
