#12 Hobbs Eagles 

Finding themselves climbing the ladder from the previous season at #17, Hobbs claims the #12 spot on our New Mexico Girls Cross Country Countdown. Led by a dynamic duo in Bhret Clay (9th in 2021) and Yisel Palacios (22nd in 2021) they will make a run for another top ten finish in 2022. Other state runners include Janelle Saravia (71st in 2021), Natalie Vega (109th in 2021), and Jessica Sturgill (103rd in 2021). The Eagles bring back plenty of production from last year's squad to capture a district 4-5A title this fall. They will have bigger aspirations on their mind as they seek to improve from that 8th place finish in sight of landing within the top 5. District 1-5A has a trio of teams that are worthy of nabbing up the top three trophies at any given state meet but Hobbs may find a way to sneak in and surprise some competitors this time around. They however will need everyone on their A-game as they seek to close the gap between the rest of 5A's top schools and that will likely start with a pair of newcomers to secure them finishes within the 70th-80th place finishers. Hobbs boasts a ton of potential for what may be one of their best team places in the state meet in recent years.
