New Mexico Girls Cross Country Countdown: #23 Organ Mountain

New Mexico Cross Country Countdown Series

The New Mexico Cross Country Countdown breaks down the top 25 New Mexico boys and girls teams returning this fall. These rankings will include projected top runners and weigh how each team may do in their respective districts and state competitions. Changes to class alignments and adaptions to the state championship format have been taken into consideration. These rankings are based on the past season of performances. All top returning runners are only projections and may include athletes no longer on the team due to transfer or out-of-state relocation.

#23 Organ Mountain Knights

It will be a rebuilding year for  #23 Organ Mountain who departed four seniors from their state team in 2021. Sophomore Wren Hofacket returns as the lone scoring runner from last season as she holds a personal best of 21:05 in the 5K along with her 67th place performance in the 5A race. Other returners include Emma Davis (83rd in 2021) and Paige Larcher (85th in 2021) as the Knights will now seek to establish the rest of the pieces to stay competitive in 2022. Organ Mountain with so many graduations slides down the rankings from their 2021 rank of #16. They will be in for a tough match-up for the district 3-5A meet as they attempt to fend off across-town rivals in Centennial as well as an emerging Alamogordo of recent years. Residing among 5A makes it no cakewalk to land on any podium and that theme will stay true this season. Expect new faces to their varsity ranks like Makayla Pena, Bridgette Shepherd, Marisol Bloomfield, and Gia Fernandez to play a role in the success Organ Mountain seeks in 2022.
