New Mexico Cross Country Countdown Series
#6 Organ Mountain Knights
Despite losing Brett Bybee who ran to a 3rd place finish in 2021 to help Organ Mountain to a 4th place team finish among 5A, the Knights bring back a huge portion of their scoring squad as they seek to ride the momentum. Jeron Wisner (16th in 2021), and Corbin Coombs (15th in 2021) will bring back some crucial low-scoring points as both have the potential of being All-State runners in 2022. Also back are John Lara (78th in 2021), and Collin Williams (96th in 2021) as they make up a solid four as they rely on newcomers to fill the remaining varsity spots. Organ Mountain will remain a strong presence in 5A but will have to take on a bigger challenge from district rival Centennial as they develop into a well-rounded squad. They will also see more of a challenge from Alamogordo that includes an experienced upperclassmen-heavy team similar to the Knights in returning state runners. To overcome those teams in district 3-5A en route to the 5A state championship they will rely on newcomers like Jacob Aguilar, Jake Medina, and Sebastian Garica. More exciting things to come in 2022 for Organ Mountain as they develop into one of New Mexico's most competitive squads from last season.
