The 2021 Academy Extravaganza was the marquee meet of the weekend with more than 1200 athletes competing this past weekend on the state championship course. The day got underway with varsity A races including all the 4A, 5A stars as Volcano Vista boys and ABQ Academy girls captured solid victories amongst a stacked field. Hope Christian's Rendon Kuykendall continues his win streak in New Mexico as he captured the boys A race win in 15:20 as Sandia's Steven West would follow behind in 15:29 and Rio Rancho's Dawson Gunn in 16:05. The Girls race would be won by Volcano Vista's Carysa Marquez in 18:27, getting her first win of the season. Albuquerque high's Daniela Figueroa would outkick Thiel -Hadjilambrino from La Cueva for 2nd place as they go 18:35 and 18:36 to grab top-three finishes.
