The relatively newer course at Community Stadium has played host to this event in the past few seasons as a mostly open, looping trail with an entire backdrop of the cityscape in the distance. Teams in attendance include powerhouse ABQ Academy, Rio Rancho, Sue Cleveland, Eldorado, La Cueva, and Hope Christian. Volcano Vista enters this championship with an equally talented group from its boys and girls squads.

The boys' race will include Dawson Gunn fresh-off victory at Rio Rancho Jamboree, Rendon Kuykendall back from Desert Twilight, Eldorado's Jett Smith, and Naseem Dhaouadi,  along with Sandia's Steven West and Tucker Scott
