Albuquerque Teams set to return to track and field action

Track in the city of Albuquerque returns this week

The wait is over as the state's biggest district will return to the track after two years in hiatus. In its absence, we missed the class of 2020 and everything that may have been during last season. This year we look toward what can be as schools from the metro compete under new guidelines and a new format. We look forward to seeing La Cueva's Stevie Salas in action for the distance races as well as multiple state champion sprinter Adriana Tatum in her senior season. Eldorado's Laurynn Sisneros defending her 1600m title as well as possibly pulling off a double in the 3200m. Albuquerque high's Luke Mummert returns for possible all-state performance in the javelin and Brad Thomas will be the jumps phenom to watch all year long for La Cueva. Sandia vs La Cueva in the girls 5A competition will also be something worth watching throughout the year. We will also look for newcomers that will be making their debuts this weekend and what they can accomplish down the road. See which APS teams face off this week on the next pages.
