The first official week of track season gave way to provisional marks galore

The first full week of track and field in New Mexico saw some of the best from around the state getting back to where they left off two years ago. St.Pius Distance Carnival had all-state cross country runners like Alyx Mastor, Justin Howey, Rendon Kuykendall, and Eric Scharton putting up early season provisional qualifying marks in the 1600m and 3200m races.

Down south, Onate and Artesia both held meets that consisted of breakout stars like Kuupualiliapihamekealoha Pili of Centennial dominating the girls throwing events. Alamogordo's Yvonne Stinson in the 100m and 200m, Celso Garcia 3200m performance, and Gabe Kotter in the 300m hurdles.
