
Melrose's pair of Bailey's and Gateway Christian's Andrew Cox lead the way in 1A
Andrew Cox captured 3rd place in the 2019 New Mexico State Championship 1A 100m and 200m finals. Cox also-ran to an 8th place performance in the 400m as the lone freshmen in the final. Devon Bailey of Melrose is the defending 110m and 300m hurdles champion when he captured the titles as a sophomore while also sprinting into a runner-up performance in the 200m. Meanwhile, Dylan Bailey captured a 7th place finish in the 100m. Fort Sumner's Daejon Coronado returns with the top mark in the 400m as well as the 4th place from the 1A state championship. Other hurdles that could shine include Fort Sumner's Chance Drake the state runner-up in 110m hurdles and 4th place in 300m hurdles. San Jon's Dustin Bryant returns as an equally capable hurdler to excel in 300m hurdles.
