The other half of that 1-2 punch for Los Alamos girls in 2019, Norissa Valdez comes in like a seasoned veteran looking to defending her 4A state title. The class of 2022 girls brings back high caliber runners in 4A with the likes of Taos Alyx Mastor, Kirtland Central's Aisha Ramone, and Albuquerque Academy's Emma Patton. In 5A, runners that could be making huge strides toward podium spots from the junior class include Alamogordo's Janae Shaklee who finished 15th a year ago. Volcano Vista's Emily Schrader finished 20th in 2019 and will be looked to take over the helm left by graduated older sister Isabella Schrader. Rio Rancho's Gracey Lovato finished 21st last year and also will be looking to take over the role of her graduated sister, Faith Lovato.
