With this weekend, state association-sanctioned cross country was put to rest around the Southwest region.
The nice thing about state meet weekend, at least from my perspective, is that it makes writing the regional summary a whole bunch easier.
Nevada
There was no great surprise to be found in McQueen (boys) and Centennial (girls) winning the Nevada Division 1 titles. They've self-identified as the top teams in the state this year from quite a way back. Spanish Springs added a solid second in the boys race.
In Divsion 1A, small school Spring Creek won the girls race by a narrow margin over fellow small school Tahoe-Truckee. They lost the boys race by a narrower margin still to large school Elko. And so Spring Creek confirms their status as the top small-school program in Nevada. We'd love to see this team in a regional small-school race...
