Entering the weekend, the battle for the Girls 5A Team Title looked to be a tight affair between a pair of Tigers. And while there were moments it appeared like it was going to be close, the Aztec Lady Tigers kept the field at arms length on their way to claiming their third consecutive title 78-48-47, over the Los Lunas Lady Tigers, and Piedra Vista Lady Panthers.

Drawing from their 14 state entrants, the Lady Tigers earned All-State honors in 14 of the 19 available events. During Friday's weather delay-riddled rolling schedule, the Tigers were entered in seven track and three field events. In those events, the Tigers made Finals in every track event and earned points in two of the three field events. Then on Championship Saturday, if there was a Tiger in the field, they were earning points.
