Manzano senior Justin Kerstetter signed his National Letter of Intent to run cross-country and track and field for the Western State Colorado University Mountaineers.

Kerstetter is a two time Cross Country All-State medalist, placing 10th in 2013, and 3rd in 2014. Kerstetter clocked his fastest Cross Country time of 16:33.10 at the 2014 New Mexico Cross Country State Championships.

On the track, Kerstetter takes advantage of New Mexico's Indoor and Outdoor seasons. Kerstetter's Indoor Personal Bests are: 54.31 for 400m, 2:02.79 for 800m, 4:43.55 for 1600m, and 4:35.29 for the Mile. Outdoor, Kerstetter's range is on displayed with Person Bests of: 1:59.64 for 800m, 4:26.80 for 1600m, 4:34.72 for the Mile, 6:31.01 for 2,000m Steeplechase, and 9:47.41 for 3200m.

What clinched the decision for the school you signed with? What made Western stand out to me is their dedication to their students, their prestigious track record (get it?), their outstanding environmental studies program, as well as the beautiful location.

What is your favorite event? The 1600m is my favorite track event because it requires the perfect combination of speed and strength.

What is your favorite high school athletic memory? My favorite memory is from the district meet last year when my best friend Ben Lantz and I went 1-2 in the 800!
