The biggest weekend of racing (in terms of the number of races) in New Mexico has come and gone, and now the board is set. We know who got in, but before we delve into the hypothetical realm of “What if?”, let’s look at how some of the pieces got to the board.
42 starting guns were fired in 21 District Meets. Of those 21 Meets, we’ll quickly glance at the 11 with submitted results. To keep it simple, we’ll head around the state numerically.
District 1-3A
At Lions Wilderness Park, Navajo Prep’s Sarah Chacon took the girl’s individual title with a 22:08. Who’s In?: Navajo Prep, Rehoboth, Newcomb, 2 Crownpoint Eagles, and 1 Tohatchi Cougar.
In the Boys race, Anthony Francis led his Lynx teammates to a District Title with his 18:35 individual clocking. Who’s In?: Rehoboth, Navajo Prep, Crownpoint, 1 Newcomb Skyhawk, and 2 Tohatchi Cougars.

In Zuni, Lacey Howe broke the tape at 19:07 taking top honors and helping her team to the District Title. Who’s In?: Shiprock, Zuni, Kirtland Central, 2 Thoreau Hawks, 1 Wingate Bear.
Shiprock’s Shawvan Levi posted a 16:09 clocking for the individual title. Who’s In?: Zuni, Shiprock, Kirtland Central, three Thoreau Hawks.

District 1-6A
Cibola Cougar Juanita Johnson placed first with her 19:04 finish taking top individual District honors. Who’s In?: Rio Rancho, Cibola, Volcano Vista, 3 Storms from Cleveland.
Rio Rancho’s Devin Paredes took the individual District title by stopping the clock at 16:21 helping his Ram teammates to the District team title as well. Who’s In?: Rio Rancho, Cibola, Volcano Vista, 3 Storms from Cleveland.

The Taos Tigers ruled the day at Kit Carson Park. Both Roy Madrid and Cora Cannedy captured the individual District titles with 16:50 and 19:35 clockings, helping their teammates to District Team titles.

It was a good day to be a Bear as La Cueva swept all four District Titles. Tom Hiett (16:41) and Natasha Bernal (19:06) led their Bear teammates to team titles with their individual crowns.

The East Mountain Timberwolves made themselves at home in Ruidoso, sweeping all four District Titles. Addison Rauch and Alex Heffelfinger claimed the individual District titles with 19:45 and 17:26 finishes, helping their teammates to team District titles.

St. Pius X’s Jordyn Dilorenzo was the first across the finish line in 18:46 claiming the individual District title. Who’s In?: Albuquerque Academy, St. Pius X, Grants, 3 Moriarty Pintos.
