It's an age-old battle between Albuquerque Academy and Los Alamos, it's just that their race at the state meet will have a new name this fall. And, as usual, there will be teams trying to find a way the break the stranglehold on the top two positions held by the traditional powerhouse franchises of New Mexico high school cross country.

In order to get a sneak preview on what could be headed our way this fall, we will take the usual three snapshots of the returning teams--cross country scoring by returning cross country runners, by returning 1600 meter runners, and by returning 3200 meter runners. And then, we engage in a little discussion. So, we start with:
