Today, we begin a series of peering ahead into the NMAA outdoor track and field season, 2014. The methodology is fairly simple. Using the MileSplit database, we pull and rank last year's performances for returning athletes and then score those (10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1) as a meet. Then drawing on what we know from last year's state meet and the cross country season completed this past fall, we comment on those rankings, perhaps scrubbing some of the dust from the window into what this season might hold along the way.
100 Meter Dash
Owing to the widespread use of handheld timing in New Mexico, it's difficult to do good rankings on events as short as the 100 meter dash.
