This year's Socorro Stampede may lack the box office appeal of last year's showdown between megapowers Cleveland and Los Alamos, but this meet will certainly be no box office flop. Indeed, if you're looking for an excellent early-season read on what's happening in 3A cross country, this is one meet you defintely want to be paying attention to.
Three of last year's top five 3A boys teams will be there, to include St. Michael's, Hope Christian, and Ruidoso. And Socorro has recently shown signs of wanting to crash the party at the top of 3A boys. On Friday evening, we should get a very nice read of what the new state of 3A might be. St. Michael's will be looking to defend a second-place finish at state last year, but how sweet would it be for any of the other 3A hopefuls to pass the Horsemen by?
