Turning the page on September

And just like that, we are now at the end of September. Three weeks from the Jamboree, and five weeks out from the races that count. But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves.

Onto the races!

Friday

ALBUQUERQUE ACADEMY INVITE

Oh man…where to begin? Every year Coach Kedge shares the history of the meet on the Coaches Message board, and boy does it have a history. This is a big one, a fast one, a very competitive one. The Red Army will be rocking the big guns, and New Mexico Milesplit will preview (will post Friday AM), and provide a meet summary and photos from it.

TOTAH XC INVITE

The Meet returns to hilly Lions Wilderness Park this year for the 10 team affair as Piedra Vista takes their turn as Meet Hosts. Teams from across San Juan and parts of McKinley County, as well as Arizona, will face-off for the second time in two weeks. If you happen to find yourself in Farmington, come on out and watching some racing.

Saturday

Seven meets to choose from across the State, we’ll go alphabetically.

CAPITAL CITY INVITE

Not to be confused with the Capital Jaguar Invite, Santa Fe High takes their turn hosting a field consisting of teams from the Capital and surrounding area.

CENTENNIAL/LAS CRUCES PUBLIC SCHOOL INVITE

You don’t need to guess where most of the field will come from for this one. Last week most of these Schools were racing at Cobre, this week they do battle in Las Cruces.

(MANCOS) CHICKEN CREEK CHALLENGE

For the San Juan County teams who don’t race Totah on Friday, to Mancos they go on Saturday Morning. Cool mountain temps and a challenging course, you can’t ask for more.

EAST MOUNTAIN NICK MARTIN MEMORIAL XC INVITE

Coach Dave Naylor's Timberwolves have their turn playing hosts. And after scoring an Individual victory last weekend at the Bosque Fall Fiesta, the Addison Rauch-led Lady Timberwolves look to defend home turf.

LUBBOCK INVITE

For the southeastern schools that aren’t heading to Cruces, off to Lubbock they head. If these race results look anything like the Pecos Valley Invite Results, watch out!

MEADOW CITY INVITE

Held in conjunction with the New Mexico Highlands Jamboree in Las Vegas. While there is a slight chance of rain in the forecast, this one offers solid footing, and if you’re fit, fast times. Always fun to be had at the NMHU golf course.

WEST MESA INVITE

For the APS Schools that don’t race at Academy, West Mesa will play host at Callavacillow Arroyo.

And that’s it. That’s September. Find a race, be smart, be brave, be fast!
